GERMANY -- Stephen Odell, one of FORD’s top executives in Europe, will replace Fredrik Arp as president and CEO of Volvo. Ford said Arp, 55, is leaving its Swedish unit. Odell will succeed Arp effective October 1. Currently, Odell, 53, is Ford of Europe's chief operating officer. Odell will be responsible for Volvo's global operations out of its headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden. [AN]

The company reiterated Tuesday its plans to restructure Volvo to make it more competitive and profitable. "Volvo will adopt a more stand-alone approach within Ford Motor Co., while still leveraging product development and purchasing synergies with other Ford operations," Odell said.[DJN]
