Hello Everybody on Forum,

i am sorry for typing in english, since i am not so good with dutch language.

i have volvo s80 (2.4, turbo), 1999 model. recently i have figured out that my car engine makes some kind of rattling sound. it is very annoying indeed and i was expecting some help from forum members. it would be great to know from their knowledge on what might be the problem and how much i have to spend to correct it.

i also have to replace the front vipers, any idea on brand, type size?

your help and opinions are truly appreciated.

Welcome, I would suggest you go to the nearest dealer.

Rattling can be something harmless like a loose heatshield. But it can also be a warning for something expensive coming on when ignored like the distribution.
So you need to be a bit more specific regarding the rattling noise. Is it rpm, gear or speed related? Which side of the engine does it come from? Any difference warm or cold engine?

Does your car have a manual gearbox? Other Volvo's like the 850 and x70, at least the ones with a manual gearbox, are well known for making rattling noices. Not sure if that's still the case for an S80.

i am planning to get an appointment with a dealer and see whats the problem. as iroll suggested, it might be a warning.

Jawel Alex maar ik denk dat deze bestuurder in Nederland woont. Zoiets staat in zijn profiel.

Volgens mij noemen ze dat integreren... en zo helpen wij hem niet.

in 1999 there was no 2.4T engine available for the S80 models
