Hi,

As you know, our initiator and driver of Team Pewano, Pelle Wallentheim, suddenly passed away on June 7th due to illness. Pelle was a great entrepreneur and a dedicated motor enthusiast with an explicit goal - to bring Cross Country Rally on the Swedish map, and put a Swedish team on the international map. He wanted to show the existence of knowledge in Scandinavia to build competitive Rally Raid cars.

And – as you probably also know… Pewano are continuing with Pelle’s dream – and the Volvo XC60 project. Yesterday we revealed on our webpage that several successful tests have been conducted over the summer. The first tests ever for PEWANO XC60 RR.

With that me and my team members want to say - Tests are on-going & Pewano is on the go!

LATEST TEST RUN. Yet another successful test-drive in Gråbo, with comments from our co-driver Olle Ohlsson (who also made his premiere run with the XC60 RR)...

- There’s only one thing I can say, this car is fantastic! You can really feel the huge potential just waiting to be unleashed. The engine is brutal and the response is great! When compared with the car we drove with Tubus Racing, it's like night and day, actually this new car is so good they are not even comparable, says Olle enthusiastically.

It is now official - South African driver Alfie Cox and his German co-driver Jürgen Schröder will drive the Swedish PEWANO XC60 RR in the Dakar rally in January 2012.

Pewano is proud to announce details of the top crew selected to drive the brand new car, PEWANO XC60 RR, in the world's longest and toughest rally. Since the start of June, when Pewano’s founder and driver Pelle Wallentheim tragically passed away due to a short illness, the team has worked intensively to find a new crew. In addition to routine and experience, a major factor when choosing the new team members has been selecting a driver and co-driver who can deliver the best performance for Pewano in the unique conditions of the Dakar rally.

- In a short period of time we have negotiated with three potential crews, all with impressive Dakar-records. We are very pleased with the choice of both driver and co-driver. Alfie and Jürgen are experienced, highly professional and complement each other very well. Alfie is an extremely talented driver which gives our racing car the best possible opportunity to perform at Dakar 2012. Given the circumstances we are delighted to be joined by Cox and Schörder, explains the Pewano Team Manager Hans Sönksen.

Is ongetwijfeld errug handig hoor, zo'n dikke grille in de woestijn

Tis echt wel een mooie wagen, maar die gril idd... Te jammer...

Volgens mij is dit een foto van de introductie, lang geleden. Dit is volgens mij dus het oude front.

Wel veel mooier dat die op die andere foto.

Ja idd die grote grille is vele malen mooier.

Ik heb even contact gehad met Pewano, en dit is niet de grille die het wordt...

"Wait until you see the finished front"

De juiste lampen zitten er inmiddels ook in...

En dit is nog steeds niet de definitieve auto: de introductie van de Dakar versie volgt snel!

Is het nu zeker dat ze in januari aan de start staan voor de Dakar Rally?

als ik het goed heb begrepen wel!

Die laatste foto... Die neus is echt not done... De foto daarboven is wel mooi(er) imho!

Ik vrees dat je gelijk hebt, Thijs. Maar als reactie op de 'mooie' neus, zei Pewano dat het niet de uiteindelijke was. Gister kreeg ik de laatste foto (via Facebook)
