ABS unit

All our S70's and V70's suffered this problem. Easy to fix, but time consuming. If you need to know how please PM me and I will try to get a decent document drawn up to show you how.
Dealers want about GBP400 for a new unit - stuff that!
Basically, the ABS control unit needs to be removed from under the modulator (4x small torx screws) - you will have to be a contortionist or you will have to fracture your arm in six places to reach these little beasties.... Anyway, remove the air cleaner assy to assist access. Then unplug the large multi plug and the modulator supply. The ECU can then be removed.
To crack it open (it is glued with silicon goo) you will have to carefully break open the case around this seam - very carefully. DO NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER TO WEDGE / FORCE IT OPEN. If you do you will damage the PCB and surface mount components inside it. Be patient and take your time removing the black ABS type plastic with a sharp 'Stanley Knife'.
When opened you will see the PCB with the surface mount components.
If you are confident with a soldering iron reflow the solder joints enclosed within the red rectangles. You will see cracks and breaks in these places. When done... Reassemble.
To do this place the two halves together and carefully use black silicone goo to create a waterproof seal, but being careful not to put in too much so that you cover the PCB! Compress together, and wait until the silicone goes off. Then re-install in the car. This should cure the ABS light problem.
However - while this has worked for our S/V70's I cannot warranty your own repair and I accept no responsibility for your own damage caused.
Good luck though!
