Hi,

I'm looking to buy a V70 from 2009 but the CD is broken, the seller doesn't know the cause, only that is not an easy fix. taking into consideration worst case scenario in which the CD has to be replaced do you have any idea what would be the cost for a new or second hand replacement ? I attached a photo with the dash board so you can see the model.

Thanks !

Do you mean that the total cd-player/radio (High Performance sound system-unit) has to be changed?

Forget the cd-player. Why not use the usb?

Not just the CD player part; the whole radio-cd assembly from the dashboard. The owner said that this happened after he washed the interior, probably he used too much water and some of it managed to get inside the radio-cd and do some damage.

A new unit is very expensive, better go to a Volvo breaker like www.autorima.nl. Remember you need a radio with exactly the same partnumber, else it won't work. You can find the partnumber after you have removed the unit from the car.

.....which seems to me like a hell of a job.

Does the FM still work?
Do parking sensors still work?
Does Navi still work (can't see on photo if its in or not)?
Phone still work?

Hi,

I saw the car and the problem is different than what I understood at first.
The display works fine, but when you open the sound system it doesn't boot if it's too cold inside the car. Once the engine is running for a little while and it gets warmer in the car, the sound system boots up.
The car doesn't have Navi. Parking sensors are working, FM is working, CD is working, phone pairing via bluetooth and using the sound system to hold conversation is working once the sound boots up. I haven't tested parking sensors and phone when the car is cold and the sound doesn't start.

I attach three photos:
v70_display_standby.jpg - this is how the display looks after starting the engine
v70_sound_starting.jpg - this is display after pressing the Volume/Power button; if the car is cold it stays like this for about 5 seconds and it goes back to v70_display_standby.jpg
v70_display_working.jpg - after the car gets warmer, this is how the display looks like when playing a CD.

Any ideas what could be the problem and what would need to be fixed ?

And from these pictures, can you tell me what is the sound system version ? HU-???

Thank you,
George

ok, seems that your car age matches a production line error, which had a work around.
Some fix on one of the pcb's would fix it...

I just tested, and until the sound system starts, the parking sensors and phone connection are down as well. When I put in reverse I don't get neither the sound notifications of obstacles, and the displays doesn't show anything related to parking. For phone connection nothing happens if I click on the Phone button in the dashboard, and I tried to connect manually from the phone to the car and it fails. So these are down as well.

VolvoTech, do you know if this fix involves replacing any parts or a Volvo service can just repair some electronic stuff on the pcb ?

Thanks !
