Nou, de 1e officiele foto's. Ik vind het fraaie auto, met een hele luxe uitstralling. De voorkant is top, de achterkant vind ik wat minder. Ik denk dat het ontwerp met name in USA en China goed aan zal slaan. Voor Europa denk ik dat de aankomende V90 meer in de smaak zal vallen.

Daar kun je wel mee voor de dag komen, dacht ik zo...

Achterkant is wennen, Verder prachtige wagen

Built on Volvo’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) which underpins the XC90, the new 2017 S90’s design is heavily influenced by the Concept Coupe. The “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlights from the concept and the XC90 provides a familiar face up front, while the S90’s profile gets a clean, elegant design with a luxurious-looking dash-to-axle ratio – Volvo’s SPA really hides its front-drive roots well. In back, the taillight graphic from the Concept Coupe carries over with few changes to the production S90, with the trunk lid spelling out the Volvo name and detailing which engine can be found under the sedan’s hood.

The new Volvo S90 is Volvo Cars’ entry ticket to the premium sedan club.
The S90 marks a giant step forward for Volvo Cars. The Swedish car maker is better known for its SUVs and
estates, but with the launch of the S90 Volvo is clearly intent on shaking up the premium sedan segment with its
distinctive executive class sedan.

Equipped with a host of new technologies ranging from cutting edge safety to cloudbased
apps and services, the S90 is further proof of the Swedish brand’s continuing transformation.

“With the launch of the XC90 we made a clear statement of intent. We are now clearly and firmly in the game. With
$11 USD billion of investment over the past five years we have not only reimagined what Volvo Cars can be – we are
now delivering on our promise of a resurgent and relevant Volvo Cars brand,” said Håkan Samuelsson, President &
CEO, Volvo Car Group.

The new Volvo S90 comes equipped with an advanced semiautonomous
drive feature, Pilot Assist. The system gives gentle steering inputs to keep the car properly aligned within lane markings up to motorway speeds of around
130 km/h and no longer needs to follow another car.
Pilot Assist is another step towards full autonomous drive – a key innovation area for Volvo.

The S90 will also come with a clean and powerful T8 Twin Engine plugin
hybrid powertrain and one of the most luxuriously appointed interiors and connected infotainment systems in the large sedan segment.

“Our idea was to bring something entirely new to this rather conservative segment and deliver a visual expression
that exudes leadership and confidence on the exterior. On the inside we have taken the S90 to the next level,
delivering a highend
luxury experience that promises comfort and control,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice
President Design at Volvo Car Group.

The S90 also introduces a world first function to City Safety large animal detection a system capable of
detecting large animals such as elk, horses or moose, night or day. The technology offers an intuitive warning and
brake support to help avoid a collision. The S90 has also benefitted from Volvo Cars’ recent investment in a highly
advanced chassis simulator.

“The S90 has taken a big stride forwards in terms of driving dynamics, performance and ride. We have completely
redesigned the Volvo driving experience from the ground up to deliver a sense of precision, engaging control and
comfort,” said Dr Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President, Research & Development at Volvo Car Group.

Achterkant vind ik vanaf de foto's spuuglelijk.

ziet er niet slecht uit, die S90

Schitterende limousine. Herkenbare styling.

Ik snap die achterkant ook niet helemaal, als ze de achterlichten wellicht ala Maserati 3200 GT hadden gedaan dan had het misschien nog een beetje te pruimen geweest. Voorkant en de lijnen zijn wel dik in orde Hij oogt ook groot en luxe

Ik ben bang dat deze duidelijk duurder gaat worden dan de huidige S80...

S80 D4 momentum was 46k, A6 190pk diesel 50k, dus S90 D4 zal dan rond de 48k komen.

Iemand al een prijs indicatie van zijn dealer mogen vernemen aangaande de T8 twin engine?

Zie ik nu op een van de foto's dat de achterzijden van de fauteuils van plastic zijn?
Bij mijn huidige S80 is achterkant geheel van gestikt leder. Afschuwelijk dat plastic zoals in de BMW 5 serie.

Bij de 5 serie is dit alleen als je de goedkope standaard stoelen neemt. Comfort en sport zijn geheel van leer. Bij audi het zelfde verhaal.
Overigens vind ik het design van de volvo stoelen juist erg mooi. Zo'n goede zit krijgen andere merken alleen met stoelen die veel groter (dikker) zijn, waardoor de beenruimte achter een stuk minder wordt, zoals bij audi en bmw. En op deze manier wordt bespaart volvo ook nog eens gewicht.
