I am following the forum for one a half year I am in Netherlands but I did not dare to post anything yet because I don't speak Dutch.

My car just died within a year of ownership and 4000km. Wegenwacht just delivered it this morning to the dealer and still awaiting diagnosis.

Yesterday afternoon I tried to start the car, but it did not do anything. The gear shift locked up in P position and several lights/ messages came up.

SRS service
Air pressure system service
Engine service
Brakes
Transmission service required
Transmission reduced performance
Gear not in P

Has anyone experience anything like this before or knows anything about it? I have tried to search through the forum but due to language barrier it is not possible.

Do you have some error codes from the car, if not, check if you can read them for the car or ask the dealer for a list.

An update so evryone is informed, just in case.

I got a phone call from Volvo it is the TCM, transmission module that just died! Possibly the first one in Netherlands with such luck.

It is quite expensive repair, €1600, for a car with 120K on the clock and not sure if they can warranty the repair on electronics.

Anyways, I thought Volvo's were very reliable...Maar:(

En als het bij een dealer gebeurt. Levenslange garantie op vervangingsonderdelen. DUS waarom niet doen? Oftewel: gewoon doen.

Je zou kunnen kijken of je ergens een gebruikte TCM kan vinden. Als je het juiste Volvo onderdeelnummer hebt is er via Google vast wel iets gebruikt te vinden voor een veel lagere prijs dan nieuw.

Elk elektronisch of mechanisch onderdeel kan plotseling kapot gaan. Bij elk automerk. Ongeacht de leeftijd van de auto of de prijs van de auto. Het is niet leuk, zeker niet als dat ook nog eens een duur onderdeel is.
