Stopt Volvo met C30 ?

Was me ook opgevallen dat de C30 nu weer terug is op de Volvo site..
Was daar eerst ook al verdwenen. We zullen het gaan zien.

Ik ben eigenlijk vooral benieuwd of er op iets langere termijn nog een C40 gaat verschijnen. Eigenlijk kan je daarmee niet achterblijven, immers de concurrenten hebben ook allemaal 3-deurs uitvoeringen.

The Volvo C30 production will be stopped in December as the Swedish based automaker has recently announced.
Before pulling the plug off the Volvo C30, the carmaker will produce a final edition of the model, which will enlighten the company’s fans and these will be the last C30 models to leave the assembly line after almost six years of production.

“Looking ahead, however, we have made the decision to discontinue C30 production to better position Volvo for the future and the next stages of our model portfolio. We encourage C30 fans to consider the new Limited Edition model currently available, of which only 250 specially numbered cars will be built. With a design that pays homage to the vintage 1800ES, we expect both collectors and enthusiasts to embrace it and carry on the C30 legacy”, as the company says in its official press release.

The Volvo C30 will be replaced by the V40, which was officially presented to the public during the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The new Volvo V40 is coming in three trim levels, the ES, the SE and the SE Lux, and its future owners will have to choose between five engines, two petrol burners and three diesels. The official starting price of the new Volvo V40 has been set at 19,745 GBP on the road in the UK and for the money, customers will get the 1112 HP and 199 lb-ft of torque 1.6L diesel engine, mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

Dit hoorde we toch ook al tijdens fabriek bezoek verleden week dat ze stoppen met de C30 in December..

Om ruimte te maken op de productie lijn voor de V40 en variaties daarop.

Zou de productiestop eind dit jaar ook bij de introductie zo zijn geplant of zal het door tegenvallende verkopen naar voren gehaald zijn. Als dat het geval is, is dat mogelijk de verklaring voor het verlies zijn? Bijvoorbeeld ontwikkelkosten die genomen moesten worden die niet terug verdiend konden worden?
