Strong early demand for all-new Volvo XC90

The all-new Volvo XC90 is proving to be a hit with customers even before it has appeared in showrooms, with over 16,000 orders for the brand new seven-seat SUV already received.

“These strong order numbers are very encouraging and it shows that customers obviously like what they see in the new XC90,” says Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars. “The new XC90 represents the new Volvo Cars and it is the first in a series of new cars to come, as we renew our entire product portfolio in the coming years.”

Volvo's New XC90 SUV Reaches Almost 24,000 Q1 Pre-Orders

Ever since Volvo launched their all-new XC90, we knew demand was going to be high, especially with the car being excellent from all points of view - which is what initial reviews have demonstrated.
Of course, this is Volvo's first model that gets to sit on their in-house developed Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), so there was no way that this car could have been allowed to fail.
Even though the number of pre-orders looks strong, what's also encouraging is the fact that Volvo's other XC models continue to do well. Sales of the XC60 and XC70 have increased by 17% and 23% respectively during 2015's first quarter.
Globaly, Volvo reported a total of 107,721 Q1 sales, while showing growth in Europe as well as the U.S market.
Volvo Cars Senior VP, Alain Visser said that "The fantastic reception for the all-new Volvo XC90 gives me confidence that the car will meet our customers’ high expectations once we start delivering the first XC90s later this spring. We are well-positioned to deliver another year of record sales in 2015."
Even though there are plenty of reasons for Volvo to be optimistic about their all-new SUV, they should be careful as to not delay any of their upcoming models, otherwise the XC90 might be left fighting a very lonely battle.

Inderdaad: de S90 moet wel eind 2016 beschikbaar zijn (als MY 2017). Ook de S/V60 middenconsole en i/f's (tel toetstenbord en draaiwieltjes) hebben ruim hun beste tijd gehad.

Ik vind die draai en drukknopjes net handiger dan een grote iPad op je dash, probeer maar eens de temperatuur een graadje hoger te zetten op een touchscreen zonder je ogen van de weg te halen,,,,

Dan heb je altijd nog full auto brake mocht je afgeleid zijn...

Maar het hoort gewoon een draaiknop te zijn die je blindelings kan bedienen

Klopt helemaal maar je ziet tegenwoordig steeds vaker beeldschermen met aanraakbediening van vrijwel alle functies, ook de vaker gebruikte functies.

Zo is het, vandaar dat ik de ergonomie van de S60 zo op prijs stel, goed overzicht met wat grotere duidelijke knoppen.
